Looking back on a year of Building Engineering Partnerships!

January 31, 2023 Published by Tritech Engineering

2022 in a nutshell.

In the same way Tritech continually evaluates products, technologies and innovative solutions, we’ve been looking back at everything we achieved in 2022 and asking ourselves the all-important question: did we build great engineering partnerships?

Tritech was ranked No.16 in the Top 20 M+E Contractors in Ireland

We began 2022 by discovering that we had been ranked by Irish Construction News as one of the top 20 M&E specialist contractors operating in Ireland. Not a bad start at all and looking forward to seeing if we can climb up that chart in 2023!

We met face-to-face for the first time in forever

With the world returning to some form of normal, post pandemic, the Tritech management team reunited for its first townhall since late 2019. It was great to review our strong performance over the pandemic itself, as well as the projects in the pipeline through to 2024. We also got to evaluate our safety performance and what has been achieved with our training academy.

We launched the new Tritech website

We’re all about improving performance at Tritech, so 2022 was when we applied that same thinking to our website. The site was redeveloped with our partners to be a more strategic platform for building our community and positioning ourselves as solution providers. The new design highlights all of our areas of focus such as sustainability, safety, technology and innovation, and also presents our proven track record in a sector-based user-friendly way.

Tritech grew its expert team

Our people are our most valuable asset, focused on delivering smarter, more efficient, innovative approaches for our clients. We were so happy to be able to add to our capabilities in 2022 with the recruitment of seven key senior appointments.

Recruitment

Safety first. Safety always.

Safety has long been integral to the Tritech proposition, but 2022 was when we underlined our commitment to it, not least by appointing Shareleen Jansen Van Vuuren to the role of H&S Manager for all group activities. With 14 years’ significant experience as a professional construction EHS manager, Shareleen is driving our business to achieve high end health, safety and environmental compliance.

We received ISO 9001, 18001 and 14001 recertification of our quality, environmental and health & safety standards. Maintaining these high standards helps not only to ensure we continually achieve our clients’ objectives, but that our people on site get home safe every day.

As part of our official participation in CIF Construction Safety Week we promoted positive safety and health amongst Ireland’s construction workers, clients and industry stakeholders. Our site teams also took part in talks surrounding mental health awareness; being a strong-performing team member is dependent on having a healthy mindset.

Across the business, we feel safety is something we should all observe, irrespective of our job title, and are all playing our part to embed it in our culture. Together with our teams, we branded our approach to health and safety as “Safety First – Our Culture” and were awarded a Distinction at the 31st Annual Occupational Health & Safety Awards in recognition.

Our apprentices soared high

In partnership between enterprise, industry, education, training and government, Worldskills Ireland raises awareness and recognition of skills and apprenticeships and helps to prepare the workforce of the future.

Four of our brightest apprentices, including Daniel Hanney, Rhys Cope and Benn Keogh, were invited to the Worldskills Ireland event at Dublin’s RDS on September 13, with Gareth Mullen being awarded Construction Apprentice of the Year in the plumbing category!

Project handovers

We were delighted to reach handover stage on a whole host of projects in 2022 in a number of sectors, from hotel and retail to pharmaceutical and financial.

New projects won in 2022

The buzz of handing over a completed project is rivalled only by the news that we have been appointed a new one. It gave us great joy and satisfaction to pick up these new pieces of work in the last 12 months.

Mechanical engineers

We’re always learning, even when guiding

Our industry is constantly evolving and innovating, to the point where even the students who have not even graduated have something to teach the experts. It was amazing to look into the future of electrical engineering as Tritech visited TUD Grangegorman. We got to review the outstanding talent and ideas on display from the electrical engineering students, with a view to offering them placements in their third year of studies.

We hosted 25 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Lunch & Learn talks in 2022, as well as The Workshop of Tomorrow at Worldskills Ireland.

Training

We gave back whenever we could

2022 was a solid calendar of fundraising for deserving causes and charities by Tritech employees, with almost every month seeing members of the team diving in, dressing up, hiking high or just having fun to raise much needed funds.

  • Veggie-Anuary, January
  • Polar Dip Swim, March
  • Darkness into Light, May
  • World Bee Month, May
  • Tritech Hike, June
  • Bewley’s Coffee Morning, September
  • Halloween Dress-Up Day, October
  • Christmas Jumper Day, December

Here’s to 2023 and continuing to build our community and partnerships for success.
