Project Scope:

The scope of work covers the complete installation of all mechanical & electrical services for a new warehouse with ancillary office space and staff facilities. The project achieved BREEAM certification. The warehouse has a maximum height of 16m and a gross floor area of 22,020 sq. m, including a warehouse area of 20,167 sq. m and an ancillary office area of 999 sq. m with staff facilities of 854 sq. m.

Complete the work to the highest installation standard while keeping within budget and the contract programme.

Unique challenges of the project:

The size of the warehouse, at 22,020 sq m, proved a challenge to keeping productivity at our usual high level. To overcome this, we positioned storage areas within the warehouse to reduce the lost time for operatives and to improve productivity. Another challenge on the project was the delay in receiving a permanent electrical power supply. This was overcome with the introduction of an electrical generator, which allowed the majority of the commissioning to be completed ahead of when the ESB connection was available.
